Kamal Thapa, 2 more RPP leaders join Dahal Cabinet

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday administered the oath of office and secrecy to Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Dilnath Giri.

Earlier, PM Dahal had expanded his coalition Cabinet incorporating three leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party.

State Minister for Cutlrue, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Parashu Ram Tamang, however, is yet to take oath.

 Kamal Thapa, 2 more RPP leaders to join Dahal Cabinet

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party is sending three of its leaders to the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led Cabinet on Thursday, under the leadership of Chairman Kamal Thapa.

Thapa will become the Deputy Prime Minister with the Federal Affairs and Local Development portfolio.

Likewise, Dilnath Giri will join the Cabinet as the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, according to the RPP spokesperson Sushil Kumar Shrestha.

Party's another lawmaker, Parashu Ram Tamang will be sworn in as a state minister. His portfolio is not finalised yet.

Shrestha in the statement issued today claimed the decision was made after PM Dahal and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba requested the party to participate in the government "from the top level for the assurance of timely elections and Constitution implementation."

The party already has two members in the Cabinet--Minister for Supply Deepak Bohara and Minister for Land Reform and Management Bikram Pandey.

Kamal Thapa to join Dahal Cabinet as DPM today

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is expanding his coalition Cabinet today, incorporating two new members from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, including its Chairman Kamal Thapa.

PM Dahal's press advisor Govinda Acharya told THT Online that the two members would be sworn in by President Bidya Devi Bhandari today.

The name of the leader to accompany Thapa in the Cabinet is not formally announced by the party yet, according to Acharya.

The Rastriya Samachar Samiti, however, quoting RPP leader Mohan Shrestha reported that Dilnath Giri would be made the Minister with the Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation portfolio.

Likewise, Thapa would take the charge of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development.

Thapa was the DPM with the Foreign Affairs and the Federal Affairs and Local Development portfolios in the erstwhile KP Sharma Oli-led government.

The party already has two members in the Cabinet--Minister for Supply Deepak Bohara and Minister for Land Reform and Management Bikram Pandey.

Currently, there are 43 members in the Cabinet including the Prime Minister, two DPMs, 26 ministers and 14 state ministers.
