Kamal Thapa wants local poll dates announced pronto
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Kamal Thapa has stressed that the government should announce local poll dates based on a political consensus among political parties.
At a women's gathering organised by the National Democratic Women's Organisation, close to the RPP, here on Tuesday, Chairman Thapa said that the government should devote itself in Constitution implementation by holding elections at local, provincial and federal levels on time.
Saying that the new Constitution has guaranteed the participation of women to increase their representation in state organs, he expressed the view that his party had also given priority to the issues concerning women.
Chairman Thapa further said that works of the people had not been carried out in an easy and smooth manner for lack of representatives at local bodies.
Similarly, RPP National Chairman Pashupati Shamsher Rana stressed that the government should work for formulating laws required for elections.
Likewise, party's Organisation Chief Kunti Shahi laid emphasis on increasing representation of women in local polls, saying there would always be a remarkable contribution of women to the development of the country.
