Kashtamandap to be rebuilt soon: Minister
Kathmandu, April 18
Minister for Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari today said the reconstruction of Kashtamandap, which was destroyed in the 2015 earthquakes, would begin on June 29.
Speaking at a ‘heritage monitoring programme’, Minister Adhikari said, “We have decided to start reconstruction of Kashtamandap and to complete it soon.” The ministry, Department of Archeology and Kathmandu Metropolitan City will be involved in the reconstruction project.”
The programme was attended by DoA staffers, including Director General Bhes Narayan Dahal, and KMC Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya. Minister Adhikari also visited Swoyambhunath Stupa and Patan to monitor reconstruction work.
Minister Adhikari also instructed officials of Hanumandhoka Durbar Museum to protect the artefacts and idols that were retrieved from the rubble of temples destroyed the earthquakes. Apart from Kasthamandap, Jaisidewal and Dasabatar in Basantapur also await reconstruction.
