KATHMANDU, JUNE 2

The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has restricted protests, sit-ins, rallies, demonstrations, and other protest activities outside designated areas for a period of two months.

Chief District Officer (CDO) Rishiram Tiwari stated that such protest programmes are restricted to three designated areas-Sifal Chaur, the Balkhu area, and the area from the Koteshwor overhead bridge southwards to Balkumari-effective from June 2.

CDO Tiwari issued the order on Sunday, citing concerns over law and order, public service delivery, and disruption to essential services and transportation caused by protests held in public spaces within the Ring Road.

The decision follows a recommendation from the District Security Committee and is enforced under Clause 6(3A) of the Local Administration Act, 2028 BS.
