Khawalung Samten Choyling Gumba inaugurated

Kathmandu, October 17:

Chairman of the Raj Parishad Standing Committee Parasu Narayan Chaudhary, His Holiness Thulshik Rimpoche and His Eminence Shechen Rabjam Rimpoche jointly inaugurated the Khawalung Samten Choyling Gumba amid a function here today.

The monastery, a section of the main Gumba established some five generations ago at Mugu district, was build with the initiation of 31-year-old Jigme Torchi Lama, who has reportedly spent all his family earnings amounting to Rs 60 million on the construction of the monastery.

In his inaugural speech, chairman Chaudhary said the teachings of lord Buddha has become more significant at a time when the nation is mired in terror and violence. “The violence in the country is not only affecting its independence, but is also posing threats to the developmental activities and world peace, at large,” he said.

Addressing the function, founder chairman of the Gumba situated at Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6, Simaltar, Bouddha, Jigme Lama, said Nepal is an important place not only for Buddhists but also for those aspiring for peace, harmony and tolerance. Lama also said that the monastery could help the followers of Buddhist faith lead lives of self-esteem and satisfaction. They would also be able to contribute towards developmental activities and for maintaining peace and harmony among humans by spreading the teachings of Buddha, he said.

“This monastery will benefit all of us who want to be free from the sufferings and seek the path of enlightenment,” Lama said.
