Kidney Day observed
Kathmandu, March 12:
The country marked the World Kidney Day on Thursday by organising several programmes with the slogan of “Are your kidneys ok?”
Nepal Medicine Students’ Society organised a rally that went through Thamel, Thahiti, Indrachowk, Makhan, Basantapur and Naya Sadak.
The National Kidney Treatment Centre organised a free kidney check-up camp. Around 2.7 million people in the country have one or the other kind of kidney ailment, the centre said. The centre said there were only 12 specialised doctors to treat kidney diseases in Nepal. It said proper diet and exercise could significantly reduce a chances of kidney diseases among the people.
