Kathamndu, May 18:

The Kathmadu Valley Town Development Committee (KVTDC) is developing 950 ropanis of land, most of it lacking access road, into a planned residential area.

This is the second phase of Kirtipur Land Pooling Project, which will provide housing plots approximately to over 2,000 families.

To the north of the planned plot lies the road from Nayabazar to Kanya Chaur, to the south is Panga and Jakha, to the west is Bhatyapati and Kanya Chaur, and to the east is the road from Nayabazar to Panga.

“We have completed the topographic survey of the project’s second phase and are now working over the Detailed Project Report. Hopefully, it will be complete in another one or two months,” said Dinesh Pote Shrestha, a technician at KVTDC, who is in charge of the project.

The project staffers have already held meetings with the users’ committee and will present the results before the project management committee for further procedure.

After the project is launched, the owners will be asked to submit their land acquisition certificates temporarily and the entire area will be re-plotted and basic infrastructure including open spaces, road, sewage, piped water and telephone facilities will be provided to each plot.

“The project will not have to spend any money on this. The cost will be collected later by selling some service plots,” said Shrestha.

KVTDC has plans to replicate similar programmes at Bagmati Nagar, Kamerotar, Ichangu (second) and Bagmati Phant (fourth) in this fiscal year.
