Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 4 Chairperson Dinesh Maherjan has been awarded with the "Local Service Excellence Award 2081."
This recognition was presented during the metro's 30th Metropolitan Day and the 16th Metropolitan Assembly.
Maharjan was honored as the Best Ward Chairman for his exceptional performance in governance, development projects, and the overall progress of Metropolis Ward No. 4.
As part of the accolade, he received a medal and a cash prize of Rs 100,000.
Expressing his gratitude upon receiving the award, Maharjan said, "This honor is a result of the unwavering support of Ward- 4 residents. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all locals, local representatives, and staff who work tirelessly in this ward. This recognition motivates me to work even harder."
Maharjan, a representative of the CPN-UML, assumed office after defeating Nepali Congress candidate Ram Prasad Nyaupane by a margin of 2,400 votes in the last election. Maharjan garnered 4,604 votes, while Nyaupane received 2,289 votes. Other candidates, including Nhuchhe Maherjan of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Ramesh Kumar Rai of the Maoist Center, Laxmi Thapa of the Janata Samajwadi Party, and Raj Kumar Shrestha of the Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party, secured 781, 201, 27, and 7 votes, respectively.
Under Maharjan's leadership, Kathmandu Metropolitan city's ward-4 has witnessed significant development, including the completion of key infrastructure projects and programs aimed at improving social services and raising the overall standard of living for residents.
This recognition highlights his dedication to fostering progress and serving the local community effectively.
