KMC seeks suggestion from general public on Rani Pokhari reconstruction

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has sought suggestions from the general public regarding the reconstruction of the historic Rani Pokhari.

Dhaniram Sharma, KMC administrative officer said, “The general public can give their suggestions from today until five days. They can submit their views and suggestions related to the reconstruction of Rani Pokhari.”

“They can do so by personally visiting the secretariat of the experts' group at the City Hall or by e-mail and phone,” he added.

The reconstruction of the historic monument came into controversy for use of concrete in the reconstruction.

Meanwhile, an 11-member committee was formed under the convenorship of former Director General of the Department of Archaeology, Bishnu Raj Karki, to study and submit a report so that the KMC with suggestions from the Department of Archaeology and National Reconstruction Authority could carry out the reconstruction.

The historic Rani Pokhari and the Balgopaleshwor Temple were damaged in the April 25, 2015 earthquake.
