KMC to enforce ban on cattle farming along rivers
KATHMANDU : The Enforcement Department of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has said it would work to impose ban on cattle farming along the rivers. The KMC, three months ago, had ordered a ban on rearing cattle or any other livestock along the banks of the
Bagmati and Bishnumati, claiming they had added to the pollution of the rivers. KMC says squatters at the bank of the rivers have been rearing livestock there polluting the river and also occupying the land. “We are preparing to strictly enforce the ban order as soon as the work to open roads along the Bagmati river is over,” said Dhanapati Sapkota, inspector at the City Police. — HNS
