KATHMANDU, APRIL 16

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City is set to organize a month-long 'Skill Fair' starting May 1 at the local Tundikhel.

The KMC is arranging the skill fair as part of its pride project, collaborating with the Federation of Professional Training and Employment of Nepal for its execution.

Bimala Koirala, the officiating Chief of KMC Social Development Department, disclosed that an agreement has been established between the Department and the Federation, where the Federation will oversee and manage the training activities.

A target has been set to provide training to 2,081 individuals across 36 professions in 10 sectors during the fair. Koirala mentioned that the Federation will handle the recruitment of trainers, procurement of necessary materials and equipment, and conduct demonstrations, following a curriculum approved by the KMC.

Koirala emphasized that the skill fair is expected to aid in integrating dispersed skills and making skilled human resources readily available to employers.

Individuals aged between 18 and 58 years are eligible to participate in the training. The training aims to enable 5,000 individuals to become self-employed directly and provide employment-oriented training to 15,000 people.
