Kathmandu Metropolitan City has vacated 19 commercial places in the basement and ground floor of buildings and cleared them for parking.
When the map was approved, the underground and ground floors of institutional and individual buildings, which were taken for commercial purposes after construction, were cleared by showing parking lot and storage room.
Likewise, the unauthorised structures, overlapping sidewalks constructed against the authorised norms in 20 places have been removed.
Parking should be provided in structures built for parking purposes. The current dire situation has come about due to disuse of executive powers that they had before. Ignoring it means further spoiling the city. If this happens, our generation will not consider us a better generation.
Balen Shah (Balen), mayor of Kathmandu Metropolis, said, "At the time of approving the map, individuals and organisations took facilities from the metropolis, but they did not fulfil the concessions and conditions they made with the metropolis, therefore we had to take action."
Two buildings of Ward 1 Durbarmarg have been vacated. These are the underground floors of Nepal Trust and Durbar Mall. The garments shop in the underground floor of Smart Tara House in Kalanki and the restaurant in the underground floor of Everest Guest House have been removed.
Old All Nepal Hospital and Khadka building of Ward 26, Samakhusi, and the unauthorised shops on the premises of Century Bank in Ranibari have been removed.
Ward 10 Baneshwor, owned by five people, Baneshwor Plaza, the structure in E block has been removed and parking for five houses has been made.
Similarly, the underground floor of the Alpha Beta complex has been locked. Burger House, UFO, Rara Complex and G- Shop of this ward have removed the unauthorised structure following the instruction of the metropolis.
In Ward 22, the shutter on the ground floor of Kathmandu Mall in Sundhara has been removed and cleared for parking.
Unauthorised towers in the RB complex premises in this ward have been removed.
It has been agreed to remove the wholesale shop located in the underground floor of Bira Complex. In Ward 24, the ground floor of Suraj Arcade has been vacated.
About 900 metres of GLD (Guided Land Development) road has been opened from Basundhara Chowk to Sirjansheel Marg. In this process, the unauthorised compound of nearly 100 houses has been demolished. Ward 4, fenced on public land by Malpi School in Baluwatar has been removed.
Overlapping in public places of Ward 5 area has been removed. In Ward 8, unauthorised structures, overlapping and advertising material on the road strip of Pashupati area have been removed.
The construction materials placed on the road box around Deurali Club of Ward 10 have been removed. Rajunath Pandey, Chief of Metropolitan Police Force, informing about the action, said, 'After ignoring the notice given to remove the structures that were against the accepted standards, they had to go and demolish them themselves.' According to him, the encroached structures and overlapping structures on Asan, Indra Chowk, which were connected to Ward 24, 25 and 27, the street coming from Makhan towards Bishal Bazar, Santhaneshwar Bhawani Shankar temple, Uma Shankar temple in Ward 25 and the road area have been removed.
In Ward 26, the unauthorised fences, overlapping, advertising boards placed without permission from New Bus Park Mitranagar to Mhepi Mandir have been removed.
In Ward 32 Koteshwor, unauthorised structures on both sides of Arniko Highway, and advertising boards placed without approval have been removed.
People have been alerted by miking in the Narefant area. The underground floor of Bhat-Bhateni Super Market has been cleared for parking.
