Koirala, Oli meet in bid to form unity government
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala consulted CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli regarding the new government formation.
The two leaders held a meeting at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar today to discuss who will lead the next government, according to the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).
UML has already decided to field its Chairman Oli as the party's candidate for the new premier while the NC is still undecided over whether to field own candidate or support Oli.
The NC Central Working Committee meeting held this morning did not decide anything about the issue.
According to the RSS, the party's CWC meeting to resume tomorrow will take a decision about the party's position in the new government formation process.
However, today's meeting between Koirala and Oli was positive regarding forming the unity government under Oli's leadership, the RSS quoted sources close to Oli as saying.
President Ram Baran Yadav has given a time till Friday to the parties in the Parliament to form a consensual government.
