Oli, Bijukchhe agree to continue House obstruction, protests
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Chairman Narayan Man Bijukchhe on Wednesday agreed to continue the House obstruction as well as street demonstrations against the Constitution amendment bill.
During a meeting held at Bijukchhe's residence in Kamal Binayak of Bhaktapur, they agreed that the bill recently registered by the government was against interests of the nation and its people.
UML Parliamentary Party's Deputy Leader Subas Chandra Nembang, who was also present in the meeting, told reporters that the two top leaders expressed the opinion that the ongoing obstruction at the Parliament should be given a continuity and the street protests should be intensified.
The leaders also agreed that the amendment process should not be stopped halfway, but the proposal should be withdrawn without any condition.
"We should not go ahead by postponing the Constitution amendment proposal. If we do this, people's sentiments will be hurt and the parties will lose trust," Bijukchhe said after the meeting, "Therefore, the House obstruction should be continued till the bill was withdrawn and the government should be pressurised for the same."
