Oli proposes top-level meeting for Constitution amendment
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Thursday proposed that top leaders of three major parties including Nepali Congress, UML and CPN Maoist Centre hold an extensive meeting to finalise the contents of Constitution amendment proposal.
In a meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Singha Durbar today, the main opposition leader said his party was ready to discuss the contents of proposal with the ruling partners, according to Govinda Acharya, PM Dahal's press advisor.
During the meeting, Dahal had requested Oli, who according to media reports had been quite adamant against the Constitution amendment, to support the bill which the government would present at the House soon, Acharya told THT Online.
Oli had told Dahal that his party was serious about the issue and was positive to extend the needful support.
"However, we three must sit together for it," Acharya quoted Oli as telling Dahal.
Dahal had called Oli to Singha Durbar this afternoon to discuss various contemporary issues.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dahal also held a meeting with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba today.
Issues relating to the Constitution amendment and latest political situation of the country were discussed.
