Ktm-7 by-poll hype fizzles

KATHMANDU: The by-poll hype that made rounds right before the festive season has now fizzled since the Nepal Communist Party (NCP)'s secretariat meeting deemed lawmaker Ram Bir Manandhar's resignation unnecessary.

Manandhar, a member elect from Kathmandu-7, had earlier announced resignation from his post in a bid to vacate seat for facilitating leader Bamdev Gautam's election as the member of the House of Representative. He had also submitted a letter to the party leadership.

The party secretariat meeting however decided against this decision, which aborted the efforts made for Gautam’s entry to the HoR.

The leaders in the middle rung took initiative to end the recent discussion of by-poll after the Manandhar’s sudden resignation created suspicion among the top leaders. The risk of Gautam losing election was also vibrantly pointed out.

The standing committee would later dwell on the dissatisfaction expressed by senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal on party’s decision on the nomination of province in-charge, co-in-charge, chairperson and secretary.
