KATHMANDU, JANUARY 3
The Khadgi Institute of Endourology, located at Kupondole, Lalitpur, has performed surgeries on 31 financially-disadvantaged patients suffering from kidney stones and prostate ailments without charge.
This was done as part of a three-day operation camp the Institute organised last week in collaboration with the Aarus Lifestyle Hospital of Lalitpur and the Red Crescent Society of Kuwait. Among those who received free surgeries, Dr. Sanjay Khadgi, Medical Director of the Institute, informed that 25 had kidney stones and six had prostate-related problems. He said that they looked for patients who needed medical help but could not receive it due to economic challenges.
Khadgi Institute has been providing free surgeries to poor patients since its establishment. It also operates on four poor patients everyday at minimal cost. This latest camp was organised on December 29, 30 and 31 where patients aged 25 to 81 received health services.
The patients expressed happiness that they not only received free treatment but also free medicine and thanked the doctors and the Institute for it. Dr. Khadgi said that the patients would not be charged for their follow-up visits too.
