Lalitpur cops nab six robbers

Lalitpur, March 13:

Lalitpur Sub-branch of the Valley Crime Investigation Branch (VCIB) yesterday nabbed six members of a group from Lalitpur on the charge of looting property worth around two lakh rupees from four flats of the house belonging to Devendra KC Katuwal at Harisidhhi-8, Lalitpur, on last Monday. A looter is still absconding, police said.

Those arrested are Shiva Bahadur Tamang and Shyam Bahadur Tamang of Sindhupalchowk, Buddhiman Tamang and Sonam Tamang of Dhading, Pasang Tamang of Makawanpur and Sunil Tamang.

Police nabbed the six from Harisiddhi VDC, Bungmati and Chapagaon and seized a khukuri, two swords, a TV set and a VCD player from them. The group of seven persons had looted Re 35,000 in cash and INRe 1,900, a disc player and two tolas of gold from KC’s flat and cash worth Re 3,000 and two tolas of gold from the flat rented by Dipendra Thapa Magar. They had looted Re 15,000 and a colour TV set from the rented flat of Rajkumar Rai. The armed group also looted Re 10,000 and some clothes from the flat rented by Prem Narayan Adhikari.

“First, they identified themselves as the Maoists and demanded cash Re 1.5 million from the house owner and the tenants. When the house members didn’t respond, they pretended to have planted a bomb and took away cash and jewelleries at knife-point,” inspector Swoyambhuman Bajracharya said.
