KATHMANDU: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sher Bahadur Tamang has offered his resignation through a press meet organised at Singha Durbar today.

Minister Tamang offered his resignation following widespread public dissatisfaction over his recent remark where he was heard as saying, "Female students in Bangladesh pursuing MBBS degree have to sell themselves in order to earn a certificate."

The government faced a backlash following the Law Minister's comment at a public event. However, the minister did not extend any apology for his comments and blatantly put the blame on 'those trying to malign the name of the current government that is working towards achieving the aim of a prosperous Nepal."

Tamang, however, said that he is resigning on moral grounds.

The Law Minister is now headed to meet the Prime Minister to offer his resignation. The PM may appoint a new lawmaker in the outgoing minister's stead, soon.
