Leaders vow to make stir successful

Kathmandu, April 11:

Central member of the CPN-UML and Kedar Pathak of the Nepali Congress, issuing a press release today on behalf of the seven-party alliance, expressed commitment to take the movement to its logical conclusion.

“Police have been shooting at demonstrators in the name of providing security to the house of a police official,” the release said. The home minister’s accusation of Maoists’ infiltration in the movement is just a ploy to suppress the movement, it said.

A 11th grader, Alina Pandey, fell on the road from the rooftop of her house after police shoot at her, the release said. Hundreds of people have been injured in firing, it said, adding: “The Armed Police Force personnel are firing bullets and accusing the Maoists of resorting to firing.”

Meanwhile, the NUTA, issuing a press statement here today, expressed solidarity with the ongoing movement against autocracy. It also appealed to teachers to continue their support to the movement until democracy is restored. The NUTA also demanded the immediate release of Kapil Shrestha, former vice-president of the NUTA, Gopal Prasad Pandey, secretary of the TUTH, and Dr Pushpa Raj Kandel.
