Leopard with three cubs terrorises Sirutar locals
BHAKTAPUR: A leopard that gave birth to three cubs at an abandoned house inside a human settlement has terrorised locals in Anantalingeshwor Municipality-8 of Bhaktapur.
According to a local Pradeep Karki, the wild cat gave birth to three cubs a week ago on the second floor of the house. The house owned by Lalit Jung Thapa near the Somalingeshwor Temple in Sirutar was abandoned after the 2015 earthquake.
After a complaint by locals, wildlife experts from the Department of Forest and the Central Zoo have been summoned to help trap the leopard, according to the Acting Chief of the Forests Office Nuchhe Krishna Shrestha.
Earlier, the leopard was often spotted around and locals had informed the police. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur, had further asked the District Forests Office to do needful.
