Kathmandu, February 13:
Time: 5:45 am. Venue: New Bus Park, Gongabu. Weather: Clear. Scene I: Five persons came to the bus park, found themselves confused whether buses for Kakarbhitta will operate or not, as not a single bus was seen. They rushed to the ticket counter but it was closed. They asked everybody they met with about the operation of long-route buses but found no information on the matter. They waited for an official version.
Scene II: Another group of five to seven persons came with luggage, asked the previous group the same question. They, too, got confused as there was no one to give an authentic information. They were looking for a bus for Tanahu.
The passengers were perplexed as they saw not a single bus at the bus park. There was no one to provide authentic information. The passengers approached the Joint Transportation Office, where an official said that the buses would run only if the ones that left Kathmandu yesterday, returned. “It is not sure whether they will return.”
At around 6:30 am, two buses arrived there as a relief to those who wanted to go to Pokhara. The two buses left the bus park with 7 and 10 passengers.
On an average 1,000 buses leave Kathmandu on normal days, according to the Joint Transportation Office.
