Love is in the air for lovers
KATHMANDU: Lovers in Nepal are observing Valentine's Day on February 14 by emulating the rest of the world with declarations of love. The origins of the tradition began in the West.
It is a tradition in which the three magical words "I love you" hold special significance by lovers as they express their love for their special someone on this particular day.
Lovers exchange their love and attachment by exchanging different kinds of gifts, especially red roses.
Doves, heart-shaped outlines and figures of the winged cupid are some of the symbols of love which are manifested in Valentine gifts representing love.
Meanwhile, gifts shops cash in on the occasion by stocking up on Valentines gifts and doing brisk business. They are selling cards and various kinds of gifts items to mark the extra special day. Various organisations and companies are also organising various dance programmes, love poem competitions and other events to celebrate the Valentine's day.
