KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 3

The Madan Puraskar Guthi has awarded the Madan Puraskar (2080) to writer and journalist Mohan Mainali for his book Mukam Ranamaidan.

Similarly, linguist Prof. Dr. Yogendra Yadav received the Jagadamba Shree Award (2080). Both awards carry a cash prize of Rs 400,000 each.

Guthi Chair Kunda Dixit presented the awards during a ceremony held at Patan Dhoka today.

On the occasion, Chair Dixit stated that the awards were given in recognition of their significant contributions to the protection and promotion of the Nepali language and literature.

Writer Mainali noted that his book details the historical aspects of the Anglo-Nepal War. Similarly, Yadav emphasized that the primary responsibility for preserving endangered languages rests with the respective communities and their speakers.
