FA to remind PM about gentlemen’s agreement

Kathmandu, May 8

The Mahantha Thakur-led Federal Alliance will meet Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal tomorrow and remind him of the gentlemen’s agreement they had reached with the PM on the constitution amendment bill.

Member of the presidium of Ranstriya Janata Party-Nepal Rajendra Mahato said a meeting of the FA held here today decided to hold talks with the prime minister to remind him of the gentlemen’s agreement reached with the government and the ruling parties about constitutional issues and to know from the PM why things did not move ahead as per the understanding.

RJP-N leader Keshav Jha said the FA leaders would meet the PM tomorrow and try to know how he would address the demands of the agitating forces.

“After the meeting with the PM, we will hold the FA’s meeting and decide about our next course of action,” Jha said and added that if the PM’s responses were not satisfactory, the FA could announce a fresh stir. The FA has been saying that it would take part in local polls only after the constitution is amended to address its demands.

Jha said the FA leaders were of the view that if their demands were not met, then they should launch a stir to disrupt the second phase of local polls slated for June 14.
