Mahashivaratri concludes

KATHMANDU: The three-day Mahashivaratri festival concluded here today amidst a function. According to the Pashupati Area Development Trust, a function was organised to formally end the auspicious ceremony.

Thousands of devotees visited the Pashupatinath shrine on the last day of the festival to offer prayers to Lord Shiva. More than 2,000 sadhus, sages and naga babas, both from Nepal and India, had gathered at the venue. An estimated Rs 3 million was spent on the management of the festival, organisers said. The accommodation facilities were provided free of cost to sages and beggars alike.

The organisers bade farewell to sadhus and donated rudrakshya, clothes, sweet and cash ranging from Rs 350 to Rs 1,100. The fair was organised by PADT, the Embassy of India, Kathmandu and the Nepal Manav Dharma Sewa Samiti.
