Mahat honours martyrs’ kin

Kathmandu, January 30:

Finance Minister Dr Ramsharan Mahat today felicitated families of the martyrs, who died

during Jana-Andolan-II, at a function organised here today. Mahat also handed over a letter of appreciation to them.

“Martyrs don’t belong to any party, they are the jewels of the country,”

Mahat said while speaking at a function organised by Manaka Taranga, a monthly magazine.

Prabha Khadka, wife of martyr Pradhumna Khadka, demanded that those involved in suppressing the Jana Andolan-II be punished. She also expressed dissatisfaction as no concrete action was taken against those who tried to suppress the April movement.

“My husband’s dream to see Constituent Assembly polls happen is yet to be fulfilled,” Jaya Tamrakar, mother of Sagun Tamrakar, another martyr of the Jana Andolan-II said, demanding that the government should build the statue of the martyrs.

At the function, PNP Academy handed over Rs 10,001 in cash to the families of the martyrs.
