Man arrested

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Narayan Prasad Dhital of Morang for allegedly staging a robbery drama. Law enforcement officials had launched an investigation after Dhital called police saying he was robbed of three million rupees from Ganeshsthan, Chabahil, on Thursday. According to him, two persons riding a motorcycle had snatched a bag containing the cash carried by him after he received the amount from Hirabhai Shakya, a jeweller in Chabahil, for gold. SP Biswa Raj Pokharel said Dhital collected the cash from Shakya promising one kg gold for ‘four million rupees only’, but gave him iron pellets.

American robbed

LALITPUR: An American national was robbed of his belongings at Krishna Galli in Pulchowk on Thursday. According to a complaint lodged with police, an unidentified man riding a green scooter snatched the victim’s bag containing his passport, a tablet, an ATM card, a credit card and Rs 3,000 and fled the scene in the evening.

House burgled

KATHMANDU: An unidentified person on Thursday stole Rs 150,000 from a room of the Dhunche Guest House in Machhapokhari. Chhesan Mendo Tamang of Kalikasthan, owner of the guest house, told police that the person made off with the cash after breaking the padlock of a cupboard.

Elderly found dead

KATHMANDU: A 53-year-old man was found dead at a hotel in Gongabu, on Friday. Police said body of Devi Lal Parajuli of Chapakot-7, Kaski, was discovered from room no 402 of Hotel Basuki. Parajuli, a patient of asthma, was staying at the hotel for the past one-and-a-half years as a paying guest.
