Journo imposter held with stolen mobile phone, other valuables from Lagankhel

KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Crime Division on Tuesday reportedly arrested a man who presented himself as a journalist, along with a stolen mobile phone and other items from Lagankhel of Lalitpur.

The arrested has been identified as 52-year-old Ashok KC alias Harisaran KC of Godavari Municipality-5 in Lalitpur district.

According to police, KC had produced a press card issued by Fire Side Daily to enter the seminar hall of Yellow Pagoda Hotel in Kantipath, Kathmandu during the lunch break of the bankers' training before making off with mobile phones and other valuables worth Rs 32,500 on Saturday.

Police seized a mobile phone of Oppo brand, two wrist watches, blue bag, Fire Side Daily press card, two mobile SIM cards and a diary from the possession of the suspect.

The preliminary investigation shows that KC targeted the venue after getting information about the programme via FM radio.

Meanwhile, police have sent the suspect to the Metropolitan Police Range, Teku for further investigation and action today itself, as mentioned in a statement issued by police.
