Man held for swindling thousands out of two police officers
KATHMANDU: A man has been arrested on charge of swindling Rs 400,000 out of two police personnel in the pretext of sending them to Formed Police Unit (FPU) mission abroad.
Police team deployed by the Metropolitan Crime Division arrested Anand Kumar Mandal (29) of Mahottari Rural Municipality-2 in Mahottari district, from Maitidevi in Kathmandu, on Monday.
Earlier, Mandal and his aide Prakash Kumar Singh of Manarakatti in Mahottari district made two police officials believe that Singh was Deputy Superintendent of Police Narayan Kumar Shrestha at Nepal Police Headquarters, and took Rs 400,000 from the police men.
Police have intensified their search for the other accused while Mandal has been sent to Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range, Teku for further investigation and action on Monday.
Likewise, the police have requested other victims, if any, to contact the Division saying that additional investigation into the case was under way.
