Man held for involvement in serial robbery cases
KATHMANDU: Police on Thursday arrested a youth for his alleged involvement in a series of robbery cases in various places of Kathmandu Valley over past few years.
Bhupal Thapa Magar (26) from Doramba-8 of Ramechhap district, currently residing in Mulpani, Kageshwori Manahara-7 of Kathmandu has been arrested by a team deployed from the Metropolitan Cirime Division yesterday.
Magar is accused of robbing a woman named Mandira Adhikari of Rs 600,000 cash in Gaththaghar of Bhaktapur on January 6.
Police investigations revealed that he had been booked for various property crimes in past years as well.
Police confiscated the cash, a pair of gold earrings, a gold ring, an LED TV among other valuables from his possession.
The MCD in a statement said a motorbike used for the robbery (Ba 51 Pa 6039) was also impounded.
Magar has been sent to the Thimi-based Metropolitan Police Circle for further investigation and action.
Police had already arrested two others—Tika Thapa Magar and Kale Thapa Magar—in connection to the Gaththaghar robbery case and they have been sent to the judicial custody at the Dillibazaar Prison.
