Man kills child, self
Kathmandu, February 3:
A 27-year-old man killed a child at Sorakhutte yesterday evening and later dived to death at the swimming pool inside Hotel Yak and Yeti, police said today.
According to the police, Dharmadev Bhatta, of Gorkha, lured Pramit Ghimire, son of Deepak Ghimire, of Gorkha, with a chocolate and took him away from his house.
Bhatta took the child to a toilet of the house owned by Niranjan Sedhai at Sorakhutte and slit the child’s throat and nose with a sharp-edged weapon. The body of Pramit and belongings of Bhatta splashed with blood were found in the toilet. The police found the body after the Sedhai family informed them.
“The body of Bhatta was found floating in the swimming pool inside the Yak and Yeti Hotel in the wee hours today, “ Surendra Sitaula, inspector at the Metropolitan Police Section, Sorakhutte, said. Bhatta used to work as an assistant to Deepak Ghimire at an astro centre run by Ghimire. He had lived with Ghimire for sometime.
“As Bhatta was very familiar with the Ghimire family, it was natural for the child to go with him,” the police official said. Bhatta had come to the capital from Gorkha three days ago, he said.
According to Sitaula, Bhatta had once consumed poison. “Bhatta was reportedly having psychological problems,” Sitaula said.
