Maoist Centre to fix size of top committees on Thursday
KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition member CPN Maoist Centre would finalise size of its Standing Committee, Politburo and Central Committee on Thursday.
The party was established after unification of 10 Maoist parties and factions on May 19. It is yet to finalise the strength of its powerful committees and is operating with a nine-member headquarters led by Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal currently.
A task force formed to propose size of the panels on Wednesday has proposed a 75-member Standing Committee, a 245-member Politburo and a 999-member Central Committee, according to a Rastriya Samachar Samiti report.
The Bashaman Pun-led task force has argued that such big structures would be useful to establish the party from the local to national level as a strong political force.
The task force, however, has maintained that the headquarters can choose members of the panels as per the need.
