KATHMANDU: Various Maoist parties on Wednesday decided that they should have a common view on solving various conflict-era issues through the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons.

The parties including UCPN-Maoist led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN-Revolutionary Maoist led by Mohan Baidya, CPN (Maoist) led by Matrika Yadav, Revolutionary Communist Party led by Mani Thapa and Naya Shakti Nepal led by Baburam Bhattarai held a joint meeting in Kathmandu today and decided that all the conflict-era issues including human rights violations cased should be dealt by the twin transitional justice mechanisms.

That means, the Maoist parties are likely to oppose any move about a regular court proceeding with cases related to the decade-long armed conflict.

Though invited, the CPN Maoist led by Netra Bikram Chand was absent in today's meeting.
