Maoists watch people’s war flick

Kathmandu, August 11:

Following the postponement of the Central Committee Meeting of the CPN Maoist, six central committee members (CCMs) this afternoon headed to Biswo Jyoti Cinema Hall and watched the feature film Awaaj, which is based on the Maoist people’s war and people’s movement.

Kul Prasad KC alias Sonam, Hemanta Prakash Oli alias Sudarshan, Valley bureau in-charge Hitman Shakya alias Suman, Netra Bikram Chand alias Biplav, Hari Bhakta Kandel alias Pratik and Barsha Man Pun alias Ananta, the deputy commander of the Peoples’ Liberation Army went to see the cinema.

Bhaktapur district in-charge and wife of Minister for Local Development Dev Gurung, Yashoda Subedi alias Prava and member of parliament Amrita Thapa also watched the film.

“We got special invitation from producer Nawal Khadka,” Ananta told this daily, adding that the PLA members have volunteered in the film. Ananta said he was there to study various aspects of the film, including art and aesthetic aspects.

MP Amrita Thapa said she wanted to know about the developments in the Nepali society

during the conflict.

Prava said she felt that she was in the field while watching the film.

She, however, flayed the art and printing aspects of the film.

One of the two producers of the film, Nawal Khadka, said party chairman Prachanda and second-in-command Dr Baburam Bhattarai will visit the hall next week. “Prachanda and Dr Bhattarai are interested to watch the film; so we have invited them,” Khadka said.

He said over 100 MPs, including speaker Subas Nembang, have watched the film besides CEC Bhojraj Pokhrel, NSU president Pradip Poudel and AIG of APF Sanat Kumar Basnet.
