Massive fire breaks out in Makhan Tole; four houses ablaze

KATHMANDU: A massive fire has broken out in residential buildings at Kampukot Marga in Makhan Tole, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-19.

According to local resident Rajan Maharjan, at least four houses are now ablaze despite efforts by fire brigades and security personnel to contain the fire. He also informed that three people, who were injured in the blaze, were taken to the Nepal Army barrack nearby for treatment.

The witness also informed that the fire started from a house at around 12:45 pm and spread out to three other adjoining houses as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders have continued exploding.

It has been learnt that bajra wood beams, used to build the houses in traditional style, have contributed for the fire to spread rapidly.

Details of casualties and loss of property are yet to be determined.
