Mayor Cup football tournament ongoing in Gokarneswar

KATHMANDU: The first ward-level Mayor Cup football tournament kicked off in Gokarneswar Municipality of Kathmandu district on Saturday.

A total of 14 teams representing the 14 wards in Gokarneswar Municipality are taking part in the competition.

Nepali Congress (NC) leader Prakash Man Singh inaugurated the tournament.

On the occasion, Mayor Santosh Chalise said that the event was organized in order to promote and develop sports in the municipality.

He also shared that the municipality was building two football grounds at the cost of 12 million rupees for the development of football.

The tournament is organised jointly by the municipality and the Jorpati Football Club.
