Mega baby doing fine

A woman today gave birth to an unusually heavy baby, stunning doctors and hospital inmates alike at the Bhaktapur district hospital. Pramila Subedi Lama, a resident of Boudha of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, who orginally hails from Gorkha delivered a baby weighing 5.075 kilograms. Dr Indra Prasad Prajapati, a gynaecologist at the hospital, said both mother and baby were hale and hearty and "doing fine". The baby was delivered by caesarian section at around 10:45 am, hospital sources said. The gynaecologist claimed it was a rare case and the first-ever in the record of the hospital. According to Dr Prajapati, generally newborns weigh not more than 2.5 kilograms.
