KATHMANDU, MARCH 4

A Melamchi Drinking Water pipeline burst in the Kathmandu Valley once again this morning, flooding the Thapathali area from Thapathali Chowk to Norvic Hospital and disrupting traffic.

The incident comes just weeks after a similar pipeline burst in Babarmahal, which had forced the closure of public offices and caused road damage.

Chief Executive Director of Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Ltd (KUKL), Ashok Kumar Paudel, stated to the RSS that efforts were underway to determine the cause and repair the damage. "The resumption of water supply will be ensured soon after repairing the broken pipe," he assured.

Homes and businesses in the area were waterlogged following the rupture.

According to Poudel, KUKL will form a committee to investigate the Thapathali incident.

The previous Babarmahal pipe burst had occurred during trench excavation for underground electric wiring.
