Menstrual hygiene awareness rally organised
Kathmandu, May 26
A cycle rally was organised here today to spread awareness of menstrual hygiene. More than 300 cyclists took part in the rally.
Organised by X-pose Nepal, an organisation working against sexual violence against women, to commemorate Menstrual Hygiene Day that falls on May 28, the rally passed through Basantapur, Durbar Marg, Putalisadak, Anamnagar, Thapagaun, Baneshwor, Thapathali, Jawalakhel and Lagankhel before converging at Mangalbazar.
Both male and female cyclists participated in the rally. “Males too should speak and act to end violence against women. Restricting women from entering the kitchen, performing religious activities and forcing them to live in a shed during menstruation is violence against women. Men should also get rid of such superstitious beliefs. We should help women enjoy their human rights. There are many men who are violating the rights of women,” said Gyan Maharjan, president of X-pose Nepal.
