MEPs to visit Nepal
Kathmandu, March 20:
For the second time within the past nine months, Members of the European Parliament (MEP) will arrive in Nepal for a four-day visit from March 21 to March 24, a statement issued today by the European Union in Kathmandu said.
The 5-member delegation will be led by Neena Gill, Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation to SAARC and South Asian Countries.
The MEPs will meet representatives of the government such as the Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Election Commission as well as members of the civil society, the business community, media and the Bhutanese Movement Steering Committee.
They will also have talks with international organisations including the SAARC, UNMIN, OHCHR, development agencies, diplomatic missions and EU Member States present in Kathmandu.
The discussions will focus especially on the peace process, preparations for the Constituent Assembly elections and the Bhutanese refugee situation, the statement further said.
