Mercury plummets further in Valley
Kathmandu, December 5
Clouds formed as a result of the Arabian Sea-based Cyclone Ockhi covered the sky above Kathmandu Valley today, causing the mercury to dip further.
Meteorological Forecasting Division at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said cyclone-formed clouds had reached Kathmandu Valley and spread across the country triggering cold.
Meteorologist Shanti Kandel said weather would remain disturbed until tomorrow evening.
“The effects of Ockhi will remain until tomorrow across Kathmandu Valley and western parts of the country. However, chances of rainfall are slim whereas high mountain areas may witness snowfall,” Kandel told The Himalayan Times, adding, “Eastern parts of the country will be affected the most.”
MFD has also released a weather bulletin for the Election Day. The bulletin says some areas in provinces 4, 5, 6 and 7 may receive light rainfall on the Election Day. “Provinces 1, 2 and 3 will only witness partial change in weather,” the special weather bulletin reads.
