MFD predicts overcast conditions in valley for today

Kathmandu, January 14

The Kathmandu Valley experienced overcast skies due to the effect of low pressure system that has developed over Bangladesh and Northeast India, according to Meteorological Forecasting Division.

Meteorologist Raju Pradhananga at the MFD said the moisture making its way to Nepal through the eastern parts had resulted in cloudy conditions in the hilly areas of the eastern and central regions, including the Valley. He, however, ruled out chances of rainfall triggered by the depression and sudden change in the weather.

The weather condition is likely to bring more cold. “Overcast skies will continue until  tomorrow,” he informed. According to MFD, thick fog is likely to prevail at many areas in the Tarai region tomorrow.

It said weather conditions would remain mainly fair in the hilly regions. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in the Valley today were 18.6 degrees Celsius and five degrees Celsius, respectively.
