Minister for Water Supply Rajendra Singh Bhandari has directed all agencies under the ministry to adopt a result-oriented approach that instils a sense of pride in their work.
Assuming office at the Ministry on Tuesday, he emphasized the need for sincere and collective efforts to ensure the provision of clean, safe and potable drinking water to the general public. He noted that access to drinking water is a fundamental need and a basic right of citizens, stressing that the Ministry must focus on effective planning and robust implementation to address longstanding challenges in the sector.
Minister Bhandari acknowledged that safe drinking water has yet to reach many rural and remote areas of the country and reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing this issue.
"Everyone must work to ensure that citizens have access to clean drinking water. The Ministry is committed to providing the necessary cooperation and coordination," he said, adding, "Our work should make the lives of ordinary citizens easier, and from staff to leadership, everyone should take pride in what we accomplish."
He further stated that the Ministry and its subordinate offices would give priority to good governance, transparency and accountability, and directed that incomplete and ongoing projects be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
