KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 11

Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Damodar Bhandari expressed concern over the scarcity of skilled human resources in Nepal, attributing it to the growing exodus of youth seeking better opportunities abroad.

During a program held on Monday, which served both as a farewell to the Dutch NGO PUM and the inauguration of Byapar Briddhi Bikalpa-a newly established Nepali private company-Minister Bhandari emphasized the necessity of developing skilled human capital domestically.

He advocated for comprehensive measures to stimulate enterprise growth, including policy facilitation to enhance the trade climate, coordinated efforts to foster entrepreneurship, increased domestic production, and job creation.

Minister Bhandari lauded the vision of Byapar Briddhi Bikalpa, which aims to cultivate an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Nepal through its extensive national and international networks. Since commencing operations in Nepal in 2001, PUM has supported over 1,000 small and medium-scale enterprises, farmers, and entrepreneurs in establishing and expanding their ventures.

Furthermore, Minister Bhandari praised the Dutch NGO's contributions to the growth of sectors such as fruit and vegetable farming, the dairy industry, tourism, handicrafts, and textiles, thereby optimizing Nepal's overall business ecosystem.

He pledged to collaborate with Byapar Briddhi Bikalpa to bolster economic activities and create employment opportunities within the country.
