Minister inaugurates technology festival
Lalitpur, January 31:
Minister of State for Environment, Science and Technology, Man Bahadur Biswokarma, opened the three-day National Technological Festival LOCUS 2006-07 at the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk, today.
Over 70 teams from seven engineering colleges of Nepal are exhibiting their innovations at the festival. Inaugurating the festival, Biswokarma said, “LOCUS should be supported by all sectors of the society. Unlike other commercial information technology (IT) festivals, this festival is purely being organised for exposing new talents.”
He said that the ministry had formed a committee to develop new policies in the field of Information and communication technology. Saroj Devkota, vice-chairman of the High Level Commission for Information Technology, stressed the need to develop ICT for the overall development of the country.
The festival aims to endow students with a platform to exhibit their technical expertise, generate innovative ideas and encourage healthy competition between the students.
