Ministry directed to reduce public transport fare
KATHMANDU: The Central Monitoring and Evaluation Committee of the government directed the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT) to reduce public transportation fare.
A meeting of the Committee presided over by Chief Secretary Somlal Subedi deicted the Ministry to adjust the fare in accordance with the recently reduced petroleum products.
A press statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers said the MoPIT has been asked to coordinate with the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies (MoCS) to reduce the charge.
The Ministry has also been urged to introduce an automatic fare adjustment system as per changes in the fuel prices, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, the Committee directed MoCS to ensure that daily consumables and services will be easily available in the market during the festivals including upcoming Dashain and Tihar.
