MoE bans NIOS curriculum

Kathmandu, March 20

The Ministry of Education has barred academic institutions in the country from teaching the curriculum of National Institute of Open Schooling of India.

A meeting at the MoE on March 19 took a decision to this effect. NIOS is an autonomous organisation providing vocational, life enrichment and community-oriented courses besides general and academic courses till higher secondary level.

Under NIOC programmes, English, mathematics and science are not compulsory and anyone completing education equivalent to Grade X is eligible to appear in Grade XII examinations.
