MoHP faces gherao

Kathmandu, March 16:

Nepal Ayurveda Paramedical Society (NAPS) today warned of protests against the discriminatory treatment meted out to ayurvedic health practitioners by the Ministry

of Health and Population (MoHP).

Nara Bahadur Thakuri, president of NAPS, said they would stage a sit-in in front of the MoHP from March 18 to 21. “We would gherao the Ministry from March 21 onwards if the government turned a deaf ear to our demands,” he added.

The society has been demanding establishment of 90 ayurveda pharmacies and two regional ayurveda hospitals as per the Ayurveda Health Policy 1996/97. “Nepal Health Commercial Council should ensure the rights of ayurveda health personnel,” added Thakuri.
