KATHMANDU, APRIL 30

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asserted that the monarchy will never return, emphasizing that it was abolished through the establishment of the current democratic system born out of the people's struggle.

He made this statement while inaugurating the Ninth National General Convention of the Rashtriya Janasanskritik Mahasangh Nepal (National People's Cultural Federation, Nepal) in Kathmandu on Sunday.

Criticizing those who, despite living in a republic, still yearn for subservience under a monarchy, PM Oli-who also chairs the CPN (UML)-described such individuals as a "group of fools" who reject freedom and remain cynical about the existing system.

"The entire forest may echo with the howls of a few jackals at night, but nothing comes of mere howling," said Oli. "Anyone dreaming of kingship today is simply indulging in a fantasy. Such regressive tendencies must be dispelled with the resounding beat of the cultural dhyangro (traditional drum). This is a collective responsibility we must embrace."

Calling for cultural activism as a tool for national progress, the Prime Minister urged everyone to unite in advancing prosperity, freedom, and peace.

He further emphasized the potential of art and culture to inspire national unity, stating that there will always be an audience for positive, patriotic films and plays. Oli encouraged the production of creative works that reflect and safeguard the country's cultural, linguistic, and artistic diversity.
